Summer is in full swing here at the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia (HSNEGA). Our adoptable dogs are keeping cool by going for early morning walks and taking dips in the kiddy pools. Want to know how you can keep your pups chill this summer?? Here are some ideas!
- Frozen Kongs
We all know dogs love treat filled Kongs, so why not try a simple summer twist? Stuff your dog’s favorite Kong with peanut butter and then put it in the freezer. After taking the frozen treat out, your dog will love working their way through the Kongsicle.
- Doggie Pool
At HSNEGA, our adoptable dogs love to take a dip in the kiddie pools! You can easily buy a small plastic pool from your local home goods store and fill it up with water right in the comfort of your own backyard! Sit back and relax as you watch your dogs splash around for hours.
- Icy Bandanna
If your canine is fashionista who loves to wear bandannas, dampen their scarf and place it in the freezer. After the bandanna is slightly frozen, place it back on your dog’s neck for an all day cooling effect.
Another great idea to keep your dogs cool this summer is making simple popsicles for your pups. Fill an ice tray with your choice of chicken broth or dog friendly fresh fruit pieces and water and freeze. Take these treats on the go or just use them at home, your dogs are sure to love this idea!
