The Adoption Insider will be a recurring post on LIFE SAVER TAILS featuring an awesome adoptable animal at HSNEGA. Today’s featured guest is Fiona, a 1-year-old Chocolate Labrador mix currently available for adoption through the HSNEGA foster program.
Fiona was found tied to a tree in south Georgia, and little kids were throwing rocks at her. Animal Control was contacted and she was brought to the city pound to be euthanized. A nice lady told a local rescue group that if they took Fiona in she would help find her a home.
The nice lady even had a potential adopter in mind for Fiona, even though she was three hours away. The potential adopter was looking for another canine for her pup to have a playmate. Things were finally looking up until Fiona was taken to the vet and tested heartworm positive, but that didn’t concern the potential adopter. Her main concern was that Fiona would be friends with her pup and feline companions.
The nice lady took Fiona to her own farm to let her be around her kitties and dogs Fiona didn’t chase the cats and did well with her dogs. After the initial test run, the nice lady drove Fiona three hours to Atlanta to meet the potential adopter and her dog. That’s where things fell apart. Fiona didn’t get along well with the potential adopter’s cat. Panicked, the nice lady contacted HSNEGA asking for help because Fiona was far away from home and had nowhere else to go. HSNEGA to the rescue!
Fiona was brought into HSNEGA where a foster family looked after her during her heartworm treatment. Fiona is now heartworm negative and ready for her furever home! Currently, she is still staying with her foster family because HSNEGA thinks it will be less stressful for Fiona.h. Fiona’s foster mom says she is a sweet dog who has been around the family’s dogs and teens but, because of her past, HSNEGA would suggest a meet-and-greet with Fiona.
If Fiona sounds like a love match for you and your family, then schedule a meet-and-greet (at HSNEGA) by contacting our Adoption Counselor, Jenn Stillerman at JennStillerman@HSNEGA.org or call at 770-532-6617.
