What price would you put on providing a nourishing meal to a hungry, homeless animal? $15? $30? $100?
Well, one week from today is Georgia Gives Day which means it’s time to get your give on!
Thursday, November 12 is Georgia Gives Day, a 24-hour fundraising event that asks you to consider your community without non-profits and encourages you to “give where you live.” In other words, you choose local non-profits you feel are making an impact on lives in your community and donate to help advance their mission.
The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia (HSNEGA) will be participating in Georgia Gives Day 2015 to raise monies to support our Food Bowl Fund, a designated fund established to help cover the cost of food for the rescued animals in our care. For many years, HSNEGA received food donations from a corporate sponsor; however, our food source “dried up” earlier this year, and we had to find a new provider to continue to feed the abandoned animals we rescue.
After contacting various companies, HSNEGA secured a place in the Purina Shelter Champions program which provides Purina-brand food to animal welfare organizations at a reduced cost; however, the cost, even at a reduced rate, adds up. That’s why we are asking you—our dedicated supporters—to help. Can you give so at-need animals have not only their second chance, but their best chance by providing them high-quality, nutritious food?
Specifically, HSNEGA is asking for donations this Georgia Gives Day to help cover the cost of our food program. The monies you donate will be used to purchase food through Purina and also cover any special food needs, including prescription food, for adoptable animals with medically-related dietary restrictions.
Now for the best news—HSNEGA is deeply grateful to Wash Yer Duds in Gainesville for their signature donation to the Food Bowl Fund. The Wash Yer Duds team will contribute up to $5,000 as a matching donation for the Food Bowl Fund as part of the Georgia Gives Day campaign!
What does that mean? It means every dollar you donate on Georgia Gives Day will be DOUBLED by Wash Yer Duds, so your donation will go twice as far in helping at-need animals!
The average animal awaiting adoption at HSNEGA costs $30 per month to feed. You can pay $30 for one fast-food dinner for a family of 4. Or going out to the movies for 2 people. Or a coffee break for 3 days. Or you can feed a homeless animal for 30 days. Seems like a no-brainer to us.
Georgia Gives Day gifts for the Food Bowl Fund can be made starting today through next Thursday, November 12 on our Georgia Gives Day page by clicking HERE. Please consider making a truly life-saving donation—you can make a big difference with a small gift!
NOTE: 100% of the proceeds of your donation on Georgia Gives Day go to the non-profit you choose by direct deposit to their bank account within 48 business hours, and all donations are tax-deductible to the 501c3 participating non-profits.
